Cities Visited: At nearly 100 feet down, we reach what appears to be a vertical hole deep in the ocean. My guide signals to follow him. We carefully swim deeper, and I peer into the hole of darkness, making out some kind of an indentation or a ledge on the inside of a cave. 110 feet down. We're a little closer now, and I sense that my heart is beating fast. As I approach this underwater cavern, I see stalactites pointing into the depths below, to no man's land. I begin to investigate, but my guide taps me, shakes his head, and we begin making our way up to the surface. |

- Belize City/San Pedro
Latitude 17°55’0”| Longitude -87°57’0” Drive from Chaa Creek to Belize City Airport and fly to San Pedro, the gateway to diving along Belize’s barrier reef. Meet with the dive master this afternoon and review his plan for two full days of diving. This evening is at leisure to dine on your own and explore this island town.

- Blue Hole
After breakfast, board a fully equipped catamaran for a full day of diving at the world-famous Blue Hole. From the surface to 120 feet below, swim among numerous species of coral, fish, shark and other sea creatures. Once you descend past the sand and silt that stays within 20 feet of the surface, the blue water of this sinkhole offers outstanding visibility.
Today is a three-tank dive, and at midday the boat takes you to Half Moon Caye, located 20 minutes to the southeast. This nature sanctuary is managed by the Audubon Society and is home to colonies of nesting blue-footed booby and frigate birds. The island is protected by a barrier reef that offers excellent snorkeling opportunities.
Return to the Blue Hole for a full afternoon of diving. Then return by boat to San Pedro.

- Turneffe
Dive today at Turneffe Elbow, where a barrier reef is positioned on an angle with the east point meeting a severe drop-off. The current is strong at the drop-off, so it is important to keep your bearings. This is a great location for sighting large game fish such as marlin and sailfish. With the plentiful schools of feeder fish, you are likely to spot sharks and schools of hammerheads.
At midday, anchor near a deserted island for a swim near the beach and sit down to a picnic lunch.
Afterward, travel by boat to the north with a stop at another one of the fine reefs for an afternoon dive. Return to San Pedro in the early evening for dinner on your own.
